Welcome to the Will County Clerk's Vital Records Web Site.

The Clerk's Office is the depository for vital records including birth, death, and marriage records. For more information on vital record services call (815) 740-4615.

Some birth and death records are available beginning with the year December, 1877. Some marriage licenses begin with the year July, 1836.

 

The Will County Clerk’s Office participates in the VitalChek network, which allows you to order copies of vital records (birth, death or marriage certificates) on an expedited basis online, by telephone during regular business hours or by fax, 24 hours a day.  Only a valid MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover card is acceptable.  You may inquire as to the shipping and handling fees for regular, international, or Saturday deliveries at the time you order your record.  Please note that overnight carriers will not deliver to a post office box.

Certified Birth Records

The fee for certified copies of birth or marriage certificates is $9 for the first copy and $4 for additional copies of the same certificate.  

 

Illinois law provides that copies of birth records may only be obtained by the individual if 18 years of age, by the parents, or other legal representative.  

 

Requests in writing for certified copies of vital records must be accompanied with


    1.    a check or money order and should be mailed to:

2.        a photocopy of your driver's license or state i.d.  

 

Requests for copies of birth records should include the following information:

 

bulletName at time of birth
bulletDate of birth
bulletFather's name
bulletMother's maiden name
bulletPlace of birth -- city and state

The indexes for birth records dated prior to January 1, 1916 may be viewed by the general public. Copies of birth records on file for at least 75 years are available for purchase for Genealogical purposes.

Certified Death Records

The fee for certified copies of death certificates is $11 for the first copy and $6 for additional copies of the same certificate.

 

Illinois law provides that Death records may be obtained by any person having a personal or property right interest in the record or by his duly authorized agent.

 

Requests in writing for certified copies of vital records must be accompanied with


   

  1.    a check or money order and should be mailed to:

The indexes for marriage records dated prior to January 1, 1916 may be viewed by the general public. Copies of marriage applications on file for at least 50 years are available for purchase for Genealogical purposes.
