County Clerk is the chief Election Authority administering
elections throughout Will County. We offer election-related services
to candidates, political parties, press, local units of government,
and the general public. These services include absentee voting

Would you
like to become an election Judge?
The
Will County Clerk is the chief Election Authority for the County.
We are always looking for people who are interested in serving as
Judges of Election. Election judges are responsible for the proper
and lawful conduct of the election in the polling place.
Election judges help ensure that every person qualified to vote is
permitted to vote and that every person permitted to vote is
qualified to vote.
Illinois
Statutes, (10ILCS 5/13-4) states qualifications for persons wishing
to serve as judge of election are:
(1) be citizens of the United States and entitled to vote at the
next election.
(2) be of good repute and character
(3) be able to speak, read and write the English language
(4) be skilled in the four fundamental rules of arithmetic
(5) be of good understanding and capable to perform the duties.
(6) not be a candidate for any office at the election nor an elected
precinct committeeman.
(7) reside in the precinct in which they are selected to serve,
however, there can be exceptions to this rule.
In
Will County, Judges earn $90.00 for each election served.
Judges who attend a training class once every two years
receive an additional $45.00 for each election served.
Additional pay can be earned for taking on extra
responsibilities, such as picking up the polling place supplies and
for returning polling place supplies and ballots.
You must be a registered voter in Will County to be eligible

Student
Judge of Election Information
Will
County has participated in students serving as judges of election
since it became law in 2000. It has served to be a successful and
rewarding experience for students.
In order to qualify, you must:
1.
Be able to read, write and speak
English;
2.
Be a U.S. Citizen;
3.
Be a high school senior in good standing;
4.
Have a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
5.
Have the written approval of the principal of your high school and
your parent;
6.
Successfully complete the State required training session;
7.
Be able to work on Election Day beginning at 5:30 a.m. until after
the polls close when all duties are completed.
The
law does not require a student to be a registered voter.
Judges of
Election are responsible for the proper and legal
conduct of the election.
They are required to maintain order in the polling place
throughout the election day.
Responsibilities include organizing the polling place,
verifying voter’s eligibility, and processing the ballots, and
returning ballots and supplies to designated stations.
Student Judges have the same responsibilities, duties and
authority as other election judges.
A
student judge is paid the same salary as other judges of election,
which is $90.00 base pay and $45.00 additional for attending the required
training session.
This
