Welcome to the Will County Clerk's Candidate Services Web Site.

The County Clerk is the chief Election Authority administering elections throughout Will County. We offer election-related services to candidates, political parties, press, local units of government, and the general public. These services include absentee voting programs; securing polling places; recruiting, training and scheduling election judges and election workers; as well as election night tabulation of results and conducting the official canvass of elections. Write-in candidate procedures

If you wish to be a Write-In Candidate, you must complete a Declaration of Intent to be a Write-In Candidate not later than 61 days prior to the primary.  However, whenever an objection to a candidate's nominating papers or petitions for any office is sustained under Section 10-10 after the 61st day before the election, then write-in votes shall be counted for that candidate if he or she has filed a notarized declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate for that office with the proper election authority or authorities not later than 7 days prior to the election.

Campaign disclosure

The Illinois Campaign Financing Act applies to all candidates for public office, groups of candidates or political action committees who have accepted contributions or made expenditures in excess of $3,000 in support of or in opposition to a candidate or candidates for public office or any question of public policy to be submitted to the voters.

 

All new committees which create by receiving or spending in excess of $3,000 must file a D-1, Statement of Organization within 10 business days of creation.  If a committee creates within 30 days prior to an election, the D-1, Statement of Organization, is to be filed within 5 business days of creation.
